2008 Domaine Loew Pinot Noir Westhoffen - France, Alsace, Bas-Rhin, Alsace AOC
12% abv. This has initially a rather sweet, candied aroma but that blows off quickly and it becomes instead an intense, cool, red-fruited wine with obvious beetrooty, forest-floor Pinosity. It is light but it is intense enough and is Pure and Racy and Moreish. Enchanting stuff and, I suspect, drinking at its peak now. I haven't tasted many successful Alsace Pinots but Loew's seems to be a lovely little wine every year.
